Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Florescence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

I thought this was one of the most important sections that everyone should read:

An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it  with the foods it needs to multiply.

Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By  cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar  substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,  Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better  natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.

Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

Cancer cells thrive in an acid  environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a  little chicken rather than beef or pork.  Meat also contains livestock  antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to  people with cancer.

The warnings were issued because marketing campaigns claimed to cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent disease — and have not been shown to be safe and effective — the FDA has not approved them. Therefore, the companies may be violating U.S.  federal law.

We have not seen the complete report of the FDA yet, so we are not positive that the original makers of Essiac are involved in this situation. We know that, as the recipe for Essiac herbal tea is quite well known, there are several companies, located in the USA and Canada, that make it, and it could easily be one of these unauthorized corporations that are now taking the heat for their marketing claims.

It has long been our belief that natural, herbal substances, such as Essiac should not be regulated, especially as there is a significant body of anecdotal evidence that points to Essiac being helpful in making the body stronger and more able to resist and recover from cancer.

Mr. Boyles and his wife started doing research on alternative cancer treatments, including herbal tonics, and he started taking Essiac herbal tea. “Jim takes Essiac tonic that contains burdock root, which is known to kill cancer cells” Mrs. Boyles is quoted in the article as saying. “It also contains sheep sorrel, slippery elm and turkey rhubarb.”

Additionally, the couple takes part in sprint running and bodybuilding, as they feel that pumping oxygen into body cells is also useful when fighting cancer.

Now, 16 months after his diagnosis, Mr. Boyles’ weight is up to 125 and he says he feels great. He reportedly had a bone scan done at his hospital in April and no metastasing was found. Although his PSA reading has dropped from 8.8 to 5.2, it is still too high, but he is pleased it is moving down.

Sky is a black Labrador retriever and one of the top 10 obedience champions in Canada until, last June, when she collapsed during a competition. The Master Obedience Champion was taken to a veterinarian, who discovered the dog had leukemia and a tumor. She was believed to have only six months to live.

The dog’s owner, a Ms. Canning, decided to take additional action besides the veterinary drugs that were prescribed for Sky. She changed the dog’s diet to one with no grain and high protein. She also started using Essiac, the herbal supplement invented by a Canadian nurse named Rene Caisse about 60 years ago. The name Essiac is Caisse spelled backwards.

We have not heard about Essiac being used on animals, but there does not seem to be any reason why it can only be used for humans. In the case of Sky, it may have contributed to the dog’s recovery. Her tumor shrunk and eventually disappeared. And there is also no more sign of the leukemia.

“So, far, she’s doing just great,” Ms. Canning said. “We’re going to compete again this year; she’s full of energy. The only change is that I can’t take her to field trials (tests for hunting dogs) anymore, because the [drug] she was on made some of her hair fall out and she gets sunburned.”

Cancer Can Be Cured

First off, let me clarify something.

I’m not a doctor, and you should always seek the help of qualified medical professionals before undertaking any treatment method. I am an independent researcher with aging parents who I plan to keep alive and healthy as long as possible. I’ve researched lots of ways to treat and cure “incurable” diseases, and I believe that this information should be available and known so that people can begin to help themselves.

Now that being said,

Did you know that cancer is not a new phenomenon? Of course it’s a lot more common nowadays. Many health professionals attribute this rise in cancer rates to the prevalence of GMO (genetically modified) foods, the widespread use of plastics, and the all but ever-present electromagnetic fields that seem to surround us all day every day.

But there are things that you can do to reduce your chances of getting cancer, and to “cure” yourself of cancer if you already have it. Of course by “cure” I mean that you can reduce the amount of cancerous cells in your system to such a low level, that the disease ceases to be detectable, and ceases to cause you any health problems.

If you have a gene that predisposes you to cancer then I’m not aware of any herb that will remove the genetic predisposition, but you can affect a “cure” for the cancer itself, according to the research of some very passionate doctors, scientists, and researchers.

Hulda Clark

Dr. Hulda Clark was one of the pioneers in a field called electro-medicine. Her methods have, according to numerous testimonials and media reports, helped thousands of people eradicate cancer without harmful chemotherapy and drugs. She also prescribed certain herbs (including wormwood and black walnut hull) to remove the virulent fungus and parasites that she found to contribute to cancerous growth.

Garlic

Rene Caisse was a Canadian nurse who discovered, according to many sources, met an elderly lady who knew the secret to how Native Americans (called the First Nations in Canada) have been curing cancer without surgery just by drinking an herbal tea. Her formula for Essiac tea is:

1. 6.5 cups burdock root
2. 1 pound sheep sorrel
3. 0.25 pounds slippery elm bark
4. 1 pound Turkish rhubarb root

She (Mrs. Caisse) was very adamant that to be effective this Essiac tea had to be boiled for several minutes, then left to steep for several hours before drinking.

Laurie Smith, according to the article, was diagnosed four years ago. Her doctor recommended that she have surgery to remove part of her colon, but she did not want this kind of treatment. The article, written by one of my fellow British Columbians, is about using herbal and naturopathic remedies to heal a severe allergic reaction to poison ivy. In the article, the author, Deanna Kawatski, tells of attending a community health meeting called to promote an herbal beverage by the name of Can-Aid. The drink was said to have amazing healing properties. It was formulated out of burdock root, Turkish rhubarb, slippery elm and sheep sorrel. According to Ms. Kawatski, the formula was originally called Essiac, and had been used as a cancer treatment since 1922.

“Three people in attendance, including a young woman who had been declared clean of cancer, vouched for its effectiveness,” Ms. Kawatski said.

We have never heard of Can-Aid, but it is not unlikely that someone could have taken the formula for Essiac and used it to create a new herbal tonic by a different name. The fact that this took place practically in my back yard, in the interior of British Columbia, makes this discovery a bit of a serendipity.

Dr. Weil stated that it was reckless and dangerous to replace chemotherapy and other conventional treatments with either of these herbal teas. He also said there is no clinical evidence that Essiac or Flor-Essence “has any anti-cancer activity.” He went on to say they both can have unpleasant side effects.

Today, a Canadian newspaper, The Vancouver Sun, has published a rebuttal to Dr. Weil from Carmen Tamayo, M.D., the director of research for Flora Manufacturing, the company that makes Flor-Essence. Dr. Tamayo stated that the lack of conclusive clinical evidence either for or against the effectiveness of Flor-Essence was due to the lack of funding necessary to conduct clinical research studies.

In the meantime, he added, consumers have bought more than 8,000,000 bottles or pouches of Flor-Essence within the past 12 years, and they have received less than 10 reports of any adverse reactions. He did note that what Dr. Weil referred to as unpleasant side effects — namely frequent bowel movements and increased urination — were common elements of the cleansing process, and that since Flor-Essence is marketed as a cleansing tonic, and not as a treatment or cure for any disease, the product was simply doing what consumers expected it to do.

Dr. Tamayo concluded by saying that Flora was “committed to funding and participating in accredited, scientific research.”

If the manufacturers of Essiac have responded to Dr. Weill’s column, I would like to know what they had to say also.

What To Remember While Pursuing An Alternative Cancer Treatment

Cancer is a modern day bane. With science and medical research making unforeseen progress in most areas there is hope that it will be conquered soon. There are several alternative cancer treatments being offered in different parts of the world, they range from divine to paramedical. It has been observed that most of these alternative treatments help in countering the side effects of conventional cancer treatment even if they do not do much to cure the disease itself.

What is worth remembering however, while pursuing alternative cancer treatment is that most of these have not been tested properly and therefore are still not proven medical solutions. Antioxidants are supposed to slow down the growth of cancer tissues in cells. Alternative cancer treatments might therefore guide you to take antioxidant supplements. It is wise to remember however that antioxidants are readily and naturally available in many food groups. Some fruits, vegetables, grains and even some meats are rich source of antioxidants, therefore, instead of taking supplements, one may decide to follow the guidelines of alternative cancer treatment and increase the quantities of these components in ones daily diet. The result would be same and your body would not be unnecessarily exposed to the risk of reverse effects.

An alkaline diet has often been suggested as opposed to an acidic diet as alternate cancer treatment. The logic behind this is that acid makes the cancer cells grow and alkaline food soothes them. This claim however remains completely unproved.

Essiac tea is another element that when introduced in the diet is supposed to reduce the size of tumors and therefore help in diminishing cancer. This alternative cancer treatment has been studied by qualified scientists and though its claim has not been fully proved it has been learned that Essiac Tea does have anti inflammatory, antioxidant and therefore some anti cancer properties.

It has been observed that eating more of vegetables than meat can prevent the onset of cancer in some people or slow down its progress. Based on this belief, treatments offer a diet known as the “Micro biotic diet”. This diet dictates that the body absorb all its calories from vegetarian sources organized according to a strict pattern. On the whole its is healthier to stick to vegetarian food, though this alternative cancer treatment has not really been studied, it can be followed by those who believe in its goodness. Mega vitamin diets require cancer patients to take hundreds of vitamin pills in a day, however if one is already taking enough vitamins as a part of ones diet this alternative cancer treatment might not be necessary.

There are some options that also center around lifestyle changes, these alternative treatments suggest that patients remain happy and stress free to counter the spread of cancer. Though no study has proved the value of happiness, it is recommended that we try to implement this advice in our daily lives to improve the quality of it.
